german pancakes

Break out your cast iron pan and the make a German Pancake. It's simple and makes a stunning center piece. Top it with a savory or sweet preserve, alongside a cheese board and a cool jar of water infused with fruit and herbs.

This recipe is so simple, versatile (top it with savory or sweet toppings such as caramelized onions or fruit preserves) and uses 6 eggs!

Preheat your oven to 425°.

Place the butter in a cast iron pan and preheat your pan while melting the butter.

•5 tbsp butter
•6 eggs
•1 cup milk
•1 cup flour
• pinch of salt

While your pan is preheating and the butter is melting mix together the flour, salt, eggs and milk.

Pour mixed batter into pan with melted butter and pop it into the oven for 30 minutes.

I love to thaw strawberries sprinkled with a little sugar and spoon it over the top when it’s fresh out of the oven. Place a dollop of gelato on the side. Perfection. We also enjoy our Dutch pancakes with a maple caramelized onion preserve.

Enjoy!
