This past weekend we rounded up 11 goats, 2 dogs and half of the hay we need for winter and moved the farm up to Monkton, Vermont in Addison County. This was as much for the animals as it was for both Lisa and I. Here we have at least 5 acres of lush pasture to graze and plenty of barn space for the 5 goats staying with us this winter. With more land for next season we are hoping to raise even more birds and goats in 2015.
Lisa has been working at Fletcher Allen in Burlington as a Mammographer since the summer. I start at City Market in Burlington come November.
This is not the first time that I have moved the farm. In fact next spring will be the third different place I have set up shop. Because I am still farming on such a small scale, and more importantly I have kept everything reasonably portable it is possible, but not ideal to move things to a new location.
Now that the goats are settled in it's time that we finish moving all the rest of our stuff. We will miss being in Poultney but are looking forward to the new possibilities here.
