As we dive into 2016 looking ahead to what the new year will hold for the farm we will be sure to take some time this winter to reflect on 2015. Last year was a big year for us, we had our biggest production year to date, we bought a house, and Lisa and I got engaged. For the farm 2015 was a mix of successes and set backs. We are grateful for being able to farm last year in Monkton and all the wonderful support we received. There is still a lot of work to be done as we make our place in Starksboro our home.
As winter has slowly moved in we have been able to get some projects done around the farm. We reworked the structure that was already on site to be a working and efficient goat barn. We also made accommodations for our group of ducks that we will be overwintering and hoping to use as a breeding flock this spring.
On the horizon is planning for next season. We will be offering CSA shares for the Duck, Chicken and Goat individually and as group packages. The winter conference season kicks off in just a few weeks as well. We take this seasonal down time to dig into our spreadsheets, comb through our production plan and think about how to best provide our customers with the best tasting meat we can raise.
Wishing you a Happy New Year, Keith
